can't change the user rights of plugins

Post by smartin »

I tried to change the rights from all users to only myself in the dropdown but this setting is being ignored completely. Anyone who knows if this is a bug or some strange setting somewhere?

Hi!

Which dropdown and what rights are you talking of specifically? Please describe your problem more exactly so that we can try to help. Also include your version number of Serendipity.

Best regards,
Garvin

Hi,

I'm sorry about that :-)

On the plugins page there are two dropdown for every plugin. On concerns the rights and the other the placing on a page. When I try to set the right from all users to a specific one I see no effect on that page. The dropdown remain the same even after a refresh. But maybe that is the way it works.

Furthermore I wanted to change the right of "the extendend page options plugin" as an alternative to deleting it. But I still saw the extended options in the edit page. But maybe the setting only has an effect on the published pages of your site? Is that so?

I am really new to s9y so it is all quite dark still. But I really like this cms. I jsut have to get used to how the settings work and what they do exactly.

Anyway I have now deleted the plugin but am still curious how these dropdowns are suppose to work.

In older versions of Serendipity (below 1.1-betas) to change the state of that dropdown you need to also tick the box of the plugin you are changing the dropdown of. Without the checkbox ticked, Serendipity will not perform any changes to the plugins to prevent actions that were not meant to be applied.
Furthermore I wanted to change the right of "the extendend page options plugin" as an alternative to deleting it. But I still saw the extended options in the edit page. But maybe the setting only has an effect on the published pages of your site? Is that so?
This dropdown only effects, which user is allowed to configure a specific plugin. It still grants the access to the plugins.

Only since Serendipity 1.1 you can configure authorgroups to not be allowed to execute specific plugins or events. Have a look at the blog.s9y.org 1.1-beta5 release announcement, there's a link to more details of that feature.

HTH,
Garvin
