Hacking - Shellbot!?

Post by Hokey »

Hi guys!

Maybe I'm in trouble!? I found this entries in my stat-tool, which you can see on my flickr-account.

Someone warned my this could be shellbots which try to inject code on my blog. Is this a serious threat or can I ignore them?

Shell bots wouldn't show up this way. A shell bot is a security problem on your server: someone uploads a script that runs on the server and modifies your files.

It's possible someone has already done this; I certainly don't remember any b= parameter in Serendipity. But it's more likely that someone is trying to spam you by submitting trackbacks or something.

Download your files and compare them to the standard distribution. If they've changed, you've been the victim of a script bot. Talk to your admin and tell him his security has been violated.

If the files are identical, someone is using an automated script to spam you. Poorly. There's nothing to fear but an idiot wasting his bandwidth.

Puh... thanks Judebert. The "b" could be because I had a B2Evolution-System (a looong long time ago), where the URL was "blog.blokey.de/index.php/b/". Maybe they think I'm running b2evolution.
