Please, can Serendipity do a full newspaper/magazine site?

I would like to know if there is a way that serendipty can achieve something for an online newspaper/magazine . Not a blog per se but i was looking at some features and am hoping and believing that it could do it cause of the category management. A structure like this http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport . Does not have to be up to all that but just the stucture

I also want to know if its easy to customise the look and feel? A particular script i used before made use of tags to call various part of the site into one template thereby allowing for page design/customisation and no messing up with code for me(am not a programer). Also, just as an aside, can this work effectively as a community portal?

Yes, you can do this with customized Templates. Serendipity supports Smarty Templates, and those allow you to customize s9y to look like this page.

Of course it requires you to know how to edit Templates, and you need some Smarty/PHP knowledge.
