Problem with Generic RSS Import

Post by muddball »

I'm thinking of converting my site from Simple PHP Blog (www.simplephpblog.com) to Serendipity. I've got Serendipity running on a local box and tried importing the RSS feed from my site directly. Serendipity indicated that the entries were imported properly, but the entry bodies are blank. Entry titles and categories imported properly, but no body text.

I also tried saving the source from my RSS feed to a local file and importing that with the same results.

Any ideas why the body text doesn't get imported?

Thanks,
Brad

Hi!

How does your RSS feed look that you try to import? Maybe it's malformed.

The feed may be malformed. When I tried importing the feed directly from my site no errors were reported. When I created a local xml file from the feed and tried to import that there were several errors reported initially. I edited the xml file to remove the reported errors and ended up with the same results as the website feed. I've inspected the xml file and haven't found any additional errors, but I'm not an expert on the RSS standard.

I have Wordpress installed on my local testing box as well, and I'm able to import the xml file into it. I suppose I could try a 2-step process: SimplePHPBlog->Wordpress->Serendipity.

Hi!

Maybe if you tell us the URL to your feed, we could have a look? :-)

Best regards,
Garvin
