No extended text with WYSIWYG, then no going back

Post by jsimmons »

When I do not select the WYSIWYG editor upon installation, I get the 2nd edit box for extended text, which is great.

However, if I then select the WYSIWYG editor, I'm sunk. No edit box for the extended text.

Not only that, if I try to go back to non-WYSIWYG editor, the 2nd edit box is gone and won't come back.

That was a bug with InternetExplorer Browsers in our 0.8-beta5 serendipity release. The bug has been fixed in CVS (and so in the snapshots as of Monday) and will be part of the final release.

If possible, use the firefox browser, it's better in most cases. If you depend on IE, please use a snapshot or wait for the final release which should hopefully be out next week.

I just updated to snapshot 0407 and it didn't fix this one for me. I use Firefox most of the time and started noticing this problem and tried going to IE and it seems to be the same. I get no extended area to type in and I can't turn off the WYSIWYG editor now. Is there another possible fix?

thx...

Can you make a screenshot of your entry creation panel? Check the JavaScript errors from Firefox.

I just upgraded to beta 6 and get the same thing. It also will not let me turn off the WYSIWYG editor. If I go into the configuration to turn off the editor, save it and go back in to check the setting, it's back on again!

Do not go into Configuration, go to "Personal Settings" and turn of WYSIWYG there.

The "emoticon chooser" Plugin does not behave well with the WYSIWYG editor, that may be the problem.

Turning off the "emoticon chooser" did allow me to turn off WYSIWYG editor which fixed the extended area not being there. All is fine as long as you do not want both the WYSIWYG editor and the extended area!

Thanks Garvin
