Newbie... some questions... ;-)

Post by aynako »

On the outside blogging seems so simple, but there always remains some questions. In the first place I want to thank you all for s9y because it is a great system, very well accessable to newbies! Two questions though:
If I want s9y to use as a blog system within a group of friends in a secured area, how can i 'turn off' the password/usersname? Like a virtual private network for instance?
I saw the information on Bulletproof, but can't find any manual - not even on their website. How do I integrate Bulletproof into s9y?

Thanks!

Hi!

Serendipity only works with user authentication - you can't "turn off" that feature. The only thing you can do is login and check the "remember me" box, then you don't have to relogin everytime.
How do I integrate Bulletproof into s9y?
Simply login to your s9y backend, go to "Manage Styles" and there select the bulletproof template. :-)

Best regards,
Garvin

Thanks Garvin!
That was a quick reply ;-)
I'll see how I can go around th login; indeed, just the 'remember me' box will do!

In regards to Bulletproof: I downloaded a folder full of 'stuff' from their website. S9y doesn't need that folder than? Is it already integrated?

Thanks again!

Hi!

Yes, bulletproof already comes with serendipity 1.2!

True, but keep in mind Serendipity 1.2 comes with Bulletproof 1.0. The BP website offers Bulletproof 1.1 as an update.

I'm sorry we never posted an article on how to update BP - probably never crossed our minds because it's just too simple :)

Simply extract the BP 1.1 zipfile's content to your template directory, overwriting the BP files that came with Serendipity. That's it.

Hi

The folder 'full of stuff' you downloaded from s9y-bulletproof is the latest version of the bulletproof template (v1.1) which has some additional features not available in the bundled v1.0 (see this entry). You can update the bundled version with the Bulletproof v1.1 you downloaded from s9y-bulletproof.com if you want to use these new features.

According to the number of downloads registered at s9y-bulletproof.com, I'm pretty positive they do have that information already :)
