Manage Groups

I am not clear on the Manage Groups page.

I log out and pose as a non user. I register and get a 0 as standard editor.
Only one box is checked, ADMINISTRATE COMMENTS.

But when as a new standard editor I look at my personal settings it says I can PUBLISH, that I want comment notification and so on.

My question is do I have to go EDIT each user, check all their personal settings I want them to have and save. And what is to keep them from changing those settings and saving?

I want new users to be STANDARD EDITORS with no rights other than being able to make comments.

Hi!

The personal preferences correlate to some settings that might have no effect for you. Like the publish-state etc. doesn't take effect if you don't have the options to write entries, but it is still shown.

The proper way would be to hide those options depending on privileges, but since they don't do anything bad there, they are just superfluous and currently not high priority enough to change the coding there.

So the way you configured the group should be alright and give them no privileges to publish entries.

I think I solved that problem by not letting the low comment people access their PERSONAL SETTINGS. That seems the answer, right?

On this issue, I had to purge lots of old uses who havent been anround in months and there is no TOP OF THE PAGE search critera like there is for most everything else. Is there a USER something or other plugin to better work the user screen?

I did find the wording I didnt like in the language .php concerning taht non user click on comments. But though I changed it and uploaded it, it still says the old thing. There must be something esle I have to do too!

I think the difference on how I see things and you guys see things is mu users and my writers don't know what a HARD DRIVE is. So I have to run through everything myself from a real idiot proof point of view.

Tech forums are different in that people in them at leasat understand how the computer works.

Sadly s9y does not (currently) track user login timestamps, so there's no real mean to decide who "hasn't been around for months".

There is a plugin that tracks logins, but it does not interface with the user screen.

You might want to add this request to our Feature Tracker on http://www.sf.net/projects/php-blog, I think tracking login times, displaying them in the user management panel and make the panel sortable by this criteria would be very useful.

Though I have been running Serendipity since last September, I was reallyl only using it as a repository database for what I was doing at the Website. I really didnt get into it much other than keep it running.

But now looking into the nooks and crannies of it all that -manage user- page jumped out as lacking in options compared to everything else.

I think I should look at this differently, users are good, just leave them alone, so what half of them are one time ponies. Doesnt matter except in my head.
