1.2alpha3 no trackbacks anymore

Post by emwede »

Since I've upgraded to 1.2alpha3 my blog (www.modlog.de) does not make any trackback calls (XML-RPC-Calls) to Urls given in the Articletext anymore. Is that a bug or is it a feature (which I do have to activate somewhere?)

Hi!

This can depend on your used event plugins.

Which event plugins do you have installed? Do you use the caching-option of the entryproperties plugin?

When you save a published entry, what gets displayed on screen?

Well garv I've changed nothing to the event plugins compared to the versions I used before.

Yes I'm using the caching feature and the display after saving an already saved entry is

Code: Select all

Sitemap Update an www.google.com gemeldet.
Der Eintrag wurde gespeichert (Anzeigen)
Any suggestions?

[UPDATE] No trackback calls either when I deactivate the caching feature.

Yes, but plugins in the snapshot might have changed. There were trouble in the past concerning the TrackExits plugin.

So I need to list of event plugins and their versions, and the order of them of the ones you're using.

What do you use as entry body for an article? The output you pasted you should only happen when you are not having any <a href> links.

Best regards,
Garvin

Hi!

Hrm. That's a long list of plugins, I'm quite sure that one of them is interfering.

If you create a new entry with

Code: Select all

<a href="http://www.google.de/">Google</a>
as the body, some random title and set the publish status to "Publish" and click on "Save" you should get the output that Serendipity tells you it tries to trackback the URL "http://www.google.de/". Does that happen?

If not, when you view this entry on your frontend, how does the google-link you entered above look like in the HTML Sourcecode?

Garvin

Hi Michael!

What about my other question: "If not, when you view this entry on your frontend, how does the google-link you entered above look like in the HTML Sourcecode?"

Does it work if you temporarily disable the google sitemap plugin and the "annnounce entries" plugin?

Garvin

I deactivated the plugins you mentioned and making a new entry gives me

Code: Select all

Der Eintrag wurde gespeichert (Anzeigen)
so it seems there's no trackbacks

The html code of the resulting page partially looks like this:

Code: Select all

<div class="serendipity_Entry_Date">
                <h3 class="serendipity_date">Dienstag,  3. April 2007</h3>

                <h4 class="serendipity_title"><a href="/archives/78-Grandom.html">Grandom</a></h4>

        <div class="serendipity_entry serendipity_entry_author_mod serendipity_entry_author_self">

            <div class="serendipity_entry_body">
                <a href="http://www.google.de/">Google what else!</a>
            </div>

Line 848 is just the included library's generic error line. The "connection timed out" indicates that either the server isn't responding, or you're blocked from accessing it. Since it only happenned once, I'm betting the server was down.

The Trackbacks problem I'll let Garvin continue to handle.

Hi!

Thhose failing trackbacks are strange, you should at least get an output where s9y tells you it tries to trackback.

Did you maybe make any modifictionats to the serendipity_config_local.inc.php file? Changed the $serendipity['autodiscovery'] option?

Can you disable the "Manual Trackback" plugin and see if that makes a difference?

Best regards,
Garvin

Hi Garvin,

so, I disabled all plugins and enabled them again one by one running the (meanwhile automated ;-) "google test" again and again. No trackbacks.

BUt there is NO "$serendipity['autodiscovery']" in the

serendipity_config_local.inc.php

al it holds is THIS:

Code: Select all

<?php
        /*
          Serendipity configuration file
          Written on Tue, 27 Mar 2007 08:28:13 +0200
        */

        $serendipity['versionInstalled']  = '1.2-alpha3';
        $serendipity['dbName']            = 'dont want to post this public';
        $serendipity['dbPrefix']          = 'dont want to post this public';
        $serendipity['dbHost']            = 'dont want to post this public';
        $serendipity['dbUser']            = 'dont want to post this public';
        $serendipity['dbPass']            = 'dont want to post this public';
        $serendipity['dbType']            = 'mysqli';
        $serendipity['dbPersistent']      = false;
        $serendipity['dbCharset']         = 'utf8';

        // End of Serendipity configuration file
        // You can place your own special variables after here:

?>
'Ill have a look at older version of this file to see if any installation process probably changed it. I've neve changed it manually.

Thanks and regards
Michael

UPDATE:

Also no such "autodiscovery" Option in

Code: Select all

<?php # $Id: serendipity_config.inc.php 1656 2007-03-22 11:43:59Z garvinhicking $
or in former versions of the serendipity_config_local.inc.php

Hi!

So that means if you disable ALL event plugins on your page and post an article with google-url, in no case you get a trackback message?

That's wicked. I would need to have a look at yoru installation via FTP, I cannot reproduce this here.

The option is not there by default, you would only have manually added this at some point...

Best regards,
Garvin
