Exporting entire blog contents

Post by jnelsonleith »

I have a need to access my blog entries offline, and wondering if there is a way to export the entire blog content (not merely the RSS feed with headers) to an html or text file, either one large file or individual files. (I only have a couple hundred entries) I've looked around and haven't really found anything that fulfills this purpose.

Hi!

There's a plugin where you can download each month as a PDF with your entries. However you loose images and formatting in the PDFS, they only show the text.

But you can use any Mirroring / Spidering software. That way you can mirror your whole homepage in single HTML files, with all images etc. intact. You can search for those like on www.tucows.com, search for the keyword "mirror" or "spider".

you can use the export menu (Export full RSS feed) in serendipity admin.
after that.. try save the feed in .txt format.. but if you have extended entry.. i don't think it's work..

That sounds adequate, but where is the plug-in?

Also, does anyone know if s9y stores the blog text in a certain sub-folder of the cblog folder? (I've been poking around and can't find them, if they exist)

On Spartacus and http://spartacus.s9y.org/ :)

No, entries are stored in the Database.

Ah, not through the blog administration. Convenient.

If you are using the spartacus plugin, you can install plugins over the web.

If we would bundle all plugins with serendipity, the release file would be 30MB in size. So it's convenient that we store them online and read for single download, yes. :)

Best regards,
Garvin

Installed the Spartacus plug-in, and the Export to PDF...

Using the "month-by-month" or "entire blog" options it exports only the headers of many entries without the content.
