using an external editor like marsedit on an mac

Post by Guest »

hi there,
i've just installed Serendipity on my internal server for several users - we all are lucky apple users and we want to use some external editor like marsedit or eventully some other kind of external software.

is there a way to use it? what does the editor mean with RPC URL?
(i know RPC from MS remote procedure call)

please help me out, if possible!

best regards

You can give those Editors the RPC-URL to your blog, which looks like http://yourblog/serendipity_xmlrpc.php. Then tell your editor to use the Blogger or MT API to post to your blog.

Using recent 0.8 snapshots of Serendipity, this should work.

only the XMLRPC does not work. MarsEdit seems to need an ID... could anyone tell me, what ID is needed ... ?

Hi!

That ID is a simply shortcut for multiple blogs, not used by s9y. Try to use "0" or "1", it shouldn't matter.

Hallo Garvin,

mit der o oder 1 als ID bin ich einen Schritt weiter, MarsEdit fragt jetzt nach dem Usernamen bzw. Passwort. Danach bekomme ich die Meldung "Couldn't get Posts from...." und danach stürzt das Programm ab, bzw. beendet sich selbst...

Irgendeine Idee... ? MarsEdit ist ein wirklich cooler Editor und funktioniert mit anderen Systemen recht problemlos...

Liebe Grüsse

Hi!

What does Marsedit offer in the dropdown where you now entered "Blogger"? Is there 'MT' or 'MoveableType' API as well? If yes, try that.

If you know some PHP, you could enable the 'debug' variable in the serendipity_event_xmlrpc plugin files and check out the logfiles what's sent and received there?

HTH,
Garvin

I 've tried. now it does not crash... thats the only difference. but i think its an marsedit problem. Meanwhile i tried ecto and with ecto, everything works fine....
