Old guy question

Post by Peachman »

Sorry to bother you again, but can someone tell me how to place an MP3 in an entry for all to enjoy? I tried to upload it, both from the admin site, and I even FTP'd it into the file from my site control panel, but it doesn't appear in the directory. Does it not recognize MP3s?

As always, you help is much appreciated.

Embarassing though it may be, I've got an MP3 on my site: it's me singing Jingle Bells with myself. I added it to the media library and provided two links: an embedded player and a direct download link.

I added the XSPF media player to my site to make it work. It's Free and simple. The Podcast plugin will apparently do the same sort of thing.

A quick search of the forums picked up a couple of other solutions, including Lord Coffee's blog entry for playing media in S9Y.

If you can't upload an MP3 from the Admin panel, and you're getting a PHP error, we'd like to know what it is (although I'm betting your max size or max time settings are too low for an MP3). If you upload it directly, you need to regenerate the thumbnails for s9y to recognize that the file is there (even though it's not an image file).
