Hi!

You can enable/disable this in the "User Self-Registration" event or sidebar plugin.

Also your entries must have the "[x] Allow comments" checkbox checked.

My question is about this actually, but a little different I think.

I want to allow annoymous people to post tips, but I also want to have registration of users. Is there a way to allow for both?

I looked for the options for it and didn't see it, am I just blind? :(

*Edit* Let me clarify: Tips = Comment form When I have the user registration enabled it's not allowing anonymous people to use the comment form on my site.

Hi!

You can configure the User-Self Registration plugin to set if anonymous people are allowed to post comments!

Best regards,
Garvin

Thanks for the reply, though I don't think I'm being very clear in relaying the problem I'm having.

On the frong page you have your regular comments on articles, then you have a contact form which I guess uses the same system.

I'm trying to figure out a way to make it so only registered users may post comments on articles, but that anyone (anonymous) can use the contact form.

The contact form is the event plugin that I'm using so people can send me tips.

Is there a way to control the behavior independently from the regular comments is I guess what I'm asking.

Sorry about creating the other thread, I didn't see this one for some reason anymore on the first page so I thought it just vanished into the ether.

Thanks for the input!

Hi!

Hm, I'm sorry but that is a bit problematic. We could turn that off, but then the contactform cannot use all other Anti-Spam means...the problem is that both comments and contact forms use the same system...

Hi!

Yeah, there definitely would be the need for something "else". :)

Did you try the 'Suggest Entries' plugin?

I just tried it and I'm not sure I'm happy with what it did with the page it's on unfortunately.

Is there a div/table somewhere it doesn't belong in that?

Hi!

The standard suggest form template (the *.tpl file in the plugin dir) uses the entry markup as available in the s9y default template; it might not work with your current one. Maybe you could check that file and modify it so that other DIVs are used?

Garvin

One last thing, is there a way to shut off the email verification on that form? I realize I can be spammed out the yahoo, but I don't mind if people are able to send me tips without giving out information they may not way to.

*EDIT* I'm banging my head looking at the code looking for where the problem is and not finding it. I compared the code to the contact form and it looks similiar, nothing I could pick out with my non-code eye. Any help on that and I'd be majorly greatful. >.<

Are you trying to stop email verification on the comment form or the contact form?

By default, the contact form on my installation doesn't even have email-checking, so I assume that you're interested in comments. The email address is checked in the Spam Protector plugin. Just go to your Admin, Configure Plugins, Spam Protector, change the Check e-mail addresses? radio box to no, and save.
