What WYSIWYG Editor do you Use?

Post by TKS »

What editor do you use in Serendipity?

There are three editors in SPARTACUS for installation separately for Serendipity. There is also the option to use the WYSIWYG editor in Serendipity or not to use a WYSIWYG editor (in admin under personal settings).

So, what do you use? Curiosity didn't just kill the cat...it's tried to kill me no less than 40 times.

Just added it...didn't realize you have to "add option" for the last poll question to be added :)

I tried all editors and ended up back with no editor at all because of the media gallery or coppermine plugins not working but that was a while ago.

You should give it another try. I've used the built in since .8 and had no troubles with it.

I gave it another try and it seems to work some! I can click on the manage media button and get the popup window but I get errors when I click on the insert image button or the insert table button. The errors are in the htmlarea.js file. Any ideas?!

Hi!

What I usually say in the forums is this:

If you get error messages, tell us. They are important for us to figure out what is causing this. Imagine you go to the hairdresser and tell him "Cut my hair". I'm sure he'll ask you about specifics instead of cutting off all your hair. ;)

Best regards,
Garvin

Sorry Garvin,
---------------------
Dialog is not defined htmlarea.js (line 2509)
anonymous htmlarea.js (line 2509)
anonymous htmlarea.js (line 1707)
anonymous htmlarea.js (line 1836)
anonymous htmlarea.js (line 253)
anonymous htmlarea.js (line 600)

This is what I see in the javascript console in Firefox when I click on the 'insert image' button. I can give the exact error on each line later today if needed.

Hi!

Hm, that's a strange message.

Did you clear your browser's cache? Are you using Serendipity 1.0? Which browser are you using? Which language did you configure for your serendipity?

Best regards,
Garvin

I cleared my cache again and got the same error.
I'm using 'Powered by Serendipity 1.1-alpha7 and PHP 4.3.11'.
I use Firefox 1.5.0.4.
Language is English.

As always,
Thanks Garvin

Hi!

I just checked with my htmlarea, and there everything works. Can you check if your htmlarea directory contains exactly all the files from your serendipity release zip/tarball?

Also try to call the JS files in your browser:

http://yourhost/serendipity_editor.js
http://yourhost/htmlarea/htmlarea.js

Then hit F5 to force refresh of that file(s)...

HTH,
Garvin

I haven't tried this in a year! I reuploaded that directory and things work. I've upgraded to some of the latest snapshots a few times over the last year. I don't understand but that's common! It seems to work fine now.

Thanks Garvin
