Would it be possible to do away with the Javascript requirement of the link list plugin by using a CSS menu system instead. I know that I always have javascript turned off by using NoScript for everyday browsing, of course I have mine turned on for my own site, but like to avoid it on other sites unless absolutely necessary. An example of this would be the Script Free Pure-CSS Menu page on GRC.com

I guess this would be a bit of work to implement eh? Would anyone else like to see this feature, or does everyone just leave javascript enabled?

This would be quite a bit of work...
And to get such menus working in IE (6 at least) usually requires some kind of hack...

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to figure out a good way of doing (especially one that is license free (or relatively distributable).

If it is something someone would like to try I would suggest starting with the "Simple CSS" output. This could probably be modified to support some type of menu system without major difficulty.

Honestly, though, I would probably recommend that someone go with a static list if they really want people to have universal access without javascript.

The whole menu system from GRC.com site linked to above is released into the public domain and says that 'This includes IE5.x, IE6, IE7's betas, all old and new Netscapes, Mozillas, Firefoxes (on PC and Linux platforms), Operas, Safari and many other Mac browsers.'

So I think it should work on pretty much every browser on the planet

So hopefully it should be workable.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to modify the GRC.com from a horizontal drop down to a vertical style. Plus, the required structure of the menus does not seem well documented, so I would have to take time to figure that out.

As I said in my post, if someone wants to take a shot at it, they are welcome to try... I could probably even help by answering questions. And the Simple CSS list would provide a good starting point.

I just don't have a whole lot of time right now to work on s9y, and there are other things I would prefer to put my time towards (like the dynamic templates that I am 3 months overdue in delivering).

Thanks for the offer of help, I am pretty sure that I am going to need it. I have no skills in this, but I am going to try to figure it out over time. Hopefully it won't be all that difficult with having the horizontal menu example to start with. Just have to learn how css works.
