Hi

Thank you for answering my question yesterday regarding sidebar plugins.

Is there within Serendipity an option for people to register and login in or can anybody do a comment or reply. I can't seem to find anything of that nature, or can anybody just do a post.

We are ready to roll out the blogg and if this is possible I really would appreciate your help in answering the question.

Please help as I'm new to this totally

Each entry you create has 2 relevant checkboxes. The first, "allow comments to this entry" determines if comments are allowed at all. The second, "Comments & trackbacks to this entry requires moderation" will determine if the comment appears immediately when made, or if administrative approval is required first. The various spam protector event plugins have additional options for comment handling.

I see that. But what I was hoping for was that anybody can make an entry into the blog, Myself being a newbie I can only see that the Administrator or setting up specific users that log in can make new entries etc an I don't want them to have full access to the admin.

Hence my question (similar to a forum) can a "guest" make a new entry and also respond to an entry or is there a functionality that they can register and have their own account but not with the full admin controls?

Check out this plugin:

User Self-Registration

"Allows blog visitors to create their own author account. Together with the Event-plugin (index.php?serendipity[subpage]=adduser) you can choose whether only registered users may post comments."

I do not think you would want just any visitor to have the ability to make an entry.... if you did, your site would quickly become spam/ad city.
