I have 6-7 serendipity sites, one I use as my main site.
All have been bombarded last 2 wks with spammers. Now every single one of them has this same error when we try to access them.
I am not at all good with this stuff, can anyone help?
www.artisticpoets.com/lynne/serendipity
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "" in /home/artist9/public_html/lynne/serendipity/bundled-libs/Smarty/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1088
Thanks
Lynne

Hi!
Usually this smarty error means that Smarty cannot read *.tpl template files, or cannot write to the templates_c directory.
Can you check if templates_c is writable, and that your templates/ directory has all the files that come with the usual serendipity installation?
Best regards,
Garvin

I'm sorry, I have no idea what this all means, but thank you anyway.

Okay, I checked all of the c_templates on all of the blogs and they all have an empty file with 0kb.
How can all of them that have worked for a year, all of a sudden be missing the same thing?
Thank you, sorry I'm so uneducated on this.

Hi!
You must use an FTP client to check the 'templates_c' directory. usually every FTP client has a way to get the Permissions of a directory. Using SmartFTP on windows, I can right-click a folder name and then click on "Permissions" where I get a screen that indicates who has write and read access.
You should check the access for all groups, resulting in a "777" permission mode.
Did anything change on your server? Your behaviour could be caused by administrative server changes...
Best regards,
