Host Provider recommendation needed - Urgent

Hi all,

I'm in desperate need of a recommendation for a solid host provider for my own blog, carlgalloway.com, and also for s9y-users.com

What I'm looking for is a provider with good quality shared server plans, good track record of minimal downtime, able to support Serendipity (ie needs php and mysql), provides wget functions and phpmyadmin, and a control panel similar to h-sphere, helm etc.

I am also looking for a provider who will be able to upgrade s9y-users to a virtual dedicated or full dedicated server when traffic reaches that level. At present I'm using Jodohost (I have a reseller account) but their service seems to be slipping. If at all possible I would also prefer an account in Europe or the US since the majority of my traffic is EU or North American.

Hey Carl,

I've converted about 10 of my friends to site5.com...they've been in business since before the dot com bust and they've got great service.

I also like that they always keep things up to date with the latest security etc.

I've been with them since 2004 and have no plans to sway from them. I also moved all my business over to them (I host pages for small businesses locally) and I helped move the pclinuxos.com domain over there when they hit hosting snags. They were back up in 6 hours.

The guys as site5 rock. If you get there and like their packages...tell them devnet from "Yet Another Linux Blog" sent you

I've been using ARVIXE.COM for the past two years with no problems at all. They have everything you need and great prices.

Thanks everyone, I got a lot of emails about this, mostly from people asking me the same question, but I did also find a small webhost in the US who are able to do what I want. I'm going to try them for a couple of months and see how good their service is. If anyone is interested they are Relio (www.relio.com) and I chose them because they offer servers in the US or the UK, and it will be possible for me to mirror my sites for each market as they get more popular.

largely because they offer windows as well as unix servers. I want to do web services using ASP.NET so I need windows servers. They are a little weird as a firm, half US and half Bulgarian. The Bulgarian side is a little stiff insofar as contract terms which causes a little tension at times when you need a little flexibility. However, the network up time is wonderful, the tech support quite helpful, the prices reasonable, the bandwidth very good and the supplied options pretty good. So far I've been quite happy with them.
