lol, the people who want to use this to socialise will do so anyway, and that will be great, but I'm not a heavy drinker, a couple of glasses of wine will do nicely. Like you I really want to be able to share my experiences of serendipity.

Have we started putting together a good list of workshops with specific goals for each, and do we have experts for these who can help everyone else? It looks like enough people have said they want to attend so it should be possible to start working on the workshops even if you can't say who the expert will be.

IMHO we need a date and a place (city). When we (hopefully at the beginning of february) have decided about that it is possible to see who is able to come and who is able to do, speak, ...

So, let´s wait about the first decision to start the other steps. It will be also given me/us time to start S9yCamp Blog/Wiki for further discussions, informations, registrations,...

hi,

first of all, i just wanna say that this S9y Barcamp is a totally great idea, i am really looking forward attending it, no matter where you guys decide to host the event (as long it is in europe :) )

anyway, about the food and beverages, if you guys are planning to provide any, i hope that maybe you could prepare something for non sausage (meat) eaters and non alcohol drinkers. just a suggestion though - though you guys are not planning this barcamp to be a huge event, but there will be people coming from many places, and there would probably be some food issues.

so, related to the suggestion above, in the registration form, maybe you could add a food section, where people would have the option to label themselves :)

Sounds like it could be fun. I'm not a programmer but would still probably go if I am still in Europe at the time.

Just to update the english thread about the s9ycamp: Vienna is not an option anymore because Robert doesn't have the time to organize it. He posted this to the thread in the German forum.

So, any ideas for other places? Volunteers?

Ok, Robert posted to the German thread once more, offering another option:

There are plans for a prospective BarCamp Vienna 2007 in September (cp. www.barcamp.at). Robert talked to the guy who organizes the BarCamp and asked him about the possibility for a S9yCamp within the BarCamp Vienna (synergies and all). Feedback has been positive so far.

So, if anyone wants set up a S9yCamp elsewehre, please do, that would be great. But if we cannot manage organize a proper S9yCamp, BarCamp Vienna could be our fallback alternative.

The peeps in Austria are currently looking for a location, more details will be available in April. Robert promised to keep us up-to-date

Hi

This thread has been inactive for too long so I saw this coming!

I feel quite sure that we in our community should be able to organise a barcamp of our own! Do we really want to tag along at someone elses? If Robert doesn't have the time we should get a group together of people who do have time and who want to move this forward. I'm sure I could organise something here - in or around Manchester, England but I don't feel that it is an ideal location.

Despite the fact that a lot of people who have already considered attending are from Germany, which sort of suggests to do this in Germany (Kassel has been mentioned as an alternative in the German thread) - why not?

Of course you'd have to organize some tickets for a ManU game ... (Kidding, of course )

I guess you've answered your own question YL :-) central Europe is much easier so we'd get more users and developers if it were in or around Germany. However if everyone would like to come to NW England then I'll see what I can do :-)
Of course you'd have to organize some tickets for a ManU game
I have 2 Season Tickets for Man U so that's you and I sorted YL :-) Anyone else might have to go to Man City!!! or maybe Oldham Athletic!!!

cheers

Hi Dave,

Well, from my personal point of view it's not much of a difference between Manchester and Vienna, but that's of course because I live in the very north of Germany :)

Uhm, I seriously suggest we consider Manchester!

Aww, I saw this coming  But on the other hand ... as FOSS developers, shouldn't we rather support FC United? Ok, we're getting off-topic here ....
