Static pages sidebar

Post by samgee »

I've been messing around with static pages for a few days now. I figured out you need 2 plugins and I've been able to create static pages with that. After browsing through these forums and trying different templates I also found out that only some templates have a navbar to show static pages. That's fine, although I wonder how a new user is supposed to figure that out by himself quickly and easily.

The real problem is that my own static pages don't show up in the sidebar. It just lists Frontpage and any of the plugins that can be added with 'Other Plugins'. So if I make an "about" static page and I add the Frequently Asked Questions plugin, my sidebar looks like this:

Static Pages
Frontpage
Frequently Asked Questions

but the Page Order tab in the Static Pages admin says:

about [DOWN]
Frequently Asked Questions [UP]

The page does exist, because I can see it when I go directly to the permalink.

there should be an option on the bottom of the static page edit page like "show on navigation" or so.

Yep, "Show on sidebar-navigation", but changing that option doesn't have any effect.

Or try to place the Static Pages (Event) on top of the queue maybe? Or re-installation?

I finally figured it out! For testing purposes I chose English as the language for the static pages. But I have my browser set to try to get the Dutch pages first, so those pages didn't show up in the list. I didn't see that there was also an option "All languages" for static pages.

Thanks for the help, people. You made me look at the problem in a different way.
