db and site growth

Post by bdconnolly »

Quick question... Every time I save a new files, my site backup size grows by at least a MB. For the record, I am adding 800 word articles with an occasional picture that under 50 KB.

Thoughts?

Hi!

Are you sure that the larger size comes from the new article? maybe the inrease comes because you only create a new article once a day. After 24 hours a lot of data comes from incoming links, visitor tracking etc. This might have the large impact.

Try to make a backup, then post your entry, then make a new backup. Now your difference should only be a few hundred bytes.

Best regards,
Garvin

The standard growth of the site after every new article is about 500 KB.

Hi!

Did you check what exactly is growing? Only those tables should grow after you post an entry:

serendipity_entries
serendipity_entryproperties
serendipity_entrycat

Or is the growth you're referring to on the diskspace instead of DB-space?

Regards,
Garvin
