how can I check which Serendipity version ist installed?

And is there a newsletter available that informs about new releases? I do not visit the forum such often so I liked this idea of information already on nucleus.

The version number is shown on the bottom line of your serendipity backend.

And is there a newsletter available that informs about new releases?

New releases are announced on blog.s9y.org, there you can also subscribe to our RSS feeds.

Or you can use the SourceForge.net release tracking announcement facility for s9y releases.
