How can I show entries on homepage from 1 category?

I have edited a template file of my own called index.tpl. I have a few categories in my weblog like "news", "about", "contact", etc.
Now if I open my homepage in my browser (mysite.com) I get all entries on that page. What I'd like is to just get the entries from "news". I could do that either by having a sort of reload on the homepage and send the browser to mysite.com/categories/news or do something with the template so it knows it should only show the news entries, maybe with a conditional statement. I have no clue what to do. I reallu hope someone can help me here

Hi!
You can use the Plugin "Start Page Category" to define which categories should be displayed on the default page!

I see thanks! But the plugins/templates page seems to be a dead link (right top of the page). Is there some other place from where I could fetch this plugin?

You can download them from "Configure Plugins", if your server isn't firewalled and you've got SPARTACUS installed (it comes with the distribution, but isn't installed by default).
Otherwise, you'd have to download the files from SourceForge or something, which is ugly unless you know CVS.

Oh boy... This is harder than I hoped. I installed Spartacus as you suggested. I guess I now have to on Click here to install a new sidebar plugin or a Click here to install a new event plugin.
I'm getting this message:
Trying to open URL package_event_nl.xml...
The URL
http://s9y.org/mirror/package_event_nl.xml could not be opened. Maybe the Serendipity or SourceForge.net Server is down - we are sorry, you need to try again later.
Underneath is a list of plugins that problably are already on my server.
I know not what cvs is so I better not get into that. Why can it not be a zip file por anything else I can understand? I though I had been around but I completely don't understand this technology.
The plugins in the pluginfolder are just folders with php files in it. Why can I not just donwload such a folder as a zip, unpack, upload and install it?

I guess a zip was available at
http://spartacus.s9y.org/ (but that site is down yet

).
Correct me if I'm wrong!

Hi!
Also please only always use netmirror.org or sourceforge.net as mirrors.
"s9y.org" is not a functional one (yet).
