Can't edit comments

Someone put !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in a comment which messes up the whole layout. When I went to edit the comment, I get a blank admin page. I tried editing other comments by going to comments. I see the list of all the comments and click edit on any of them and just get a blank admin page. Running 8 alpha 4 and I know I could just delete the comment entirely but thought it would be worth looking into first. Thanks

Yes, comment editing was broken in Alphas previous to 5 or 6 I think.

And maybe the spam protector should be enhanced to disallow entries with 'Xxxxxxxxxxxxxx' characters in it. Or we should apply the wordwrap() function to comments...but it would be hard to indicate the maximum word length since that is dependend on the used Theme. :-|

Garvin.

As always, thanks for your fast response. I'll update the one of the latest alpha releases. Any of your solutions would surely work for me. Word wrap might be nice.

Thanks again

We're going to need a bit more information than that... check Apache's error log, that often gives a good hint.

I understand! I thought I saw the same problem once in another post and it would just be an easy fix!

I upgraded from Alpha 4 to the snapshot dated 1208. I got the screen letting me know it was upgrading and it seemed to work. There was a link to return to my initial page which went to a blank page. I'm digging around for a log but don't see one that looks like anything I might need. I can say I'm not too experienced with mysql. Learning as I go...

Any more direction would be greatly appreciated.

It's usually stored in the same location as your access_log--I'm sure your host provides /some/ way to access it. What's the URL of your blog?

I found my error log. Could someone please help me figure out what may be wrong. Previous posts show what I tried with the upgrade. I also tried to restore my db and all files to the previous which was alpha 4. It looked strange without both sidebars. I tried the snapshot dated 1207 and am getting the same thing I did with 1208. A blank page. The error log is located here.
