No show of blog content in browser after update of s9y to 2.5-beta1 & php to v8.2.15 on provider side

Hi,
I'm experiencing a similar problem as 2 years ago: No show of our blog content in the browser after updates of Serendipity and php. At that time, I was able to identify some plugins as culprits.

So, again, I should check the error-log file first for fatal errors before asking for more specific help. But, unfortunately, I absolutely cannot remember where the heck I may find the error-login file. So, it's a trivial save silly question (excuse me for that): Where should I look for this error-login file? Within serendipity, in the htdocs, ... ?

It's a valid question. Serendipity could try to capture the error file, write the errors to something under its control. But it does not, so the PHP error file will be somewhere your hoster configured it to be.

On a typical linux machine, that would be /var/log/apache2/error.log. On uberspace as a hoster, you enable them via a terminal and then it is under ~/logs, see https://manual.uberspace.de/web-logs/. Your provider should have some documentation about this, the keywords might be logs, PHP error logs, webserver logs or Apache error logs.

Does this help? If not, tell us what is your provider, maybe we can find the correct documentation.

... my provider is 'strato' and in the user's management space there is, under the path
statistik -> logfiles -> error-logs, a simple way for downloading the most recent error-logfile
(can be pretty huge: up to 100000 lines) Here is an excerpt showing the PHP Fatal error:

As 2 years ago, interpreting the error-logfile is far beyond my capacity, so do hope for your help...

Yesterday, I saw, that the new stable serendipity-version 2.5.0 is available and I thought this could probably solve my problem. But, unfortunately, after starting the Serendipity Auto-Upgrade Processor' , I got stuck with this messages:

So, updating serendipity to v2.5.0 is an additional problem ....

Delete this file (you can do a backup on your PC): serendipity_01/plugins/serendipity_event_statistics/serendipity_plugin_statistics.php

That should avoid the problem, if it's only about the missing table. If afterwards it is still broken you should check the error-log again - we have to make certain your database is not simply gone.

If the Auto-Upgrader does not work you can do the download manually. You download the new release from https://github.com/s9y/Serendipity/releases/tag/2.5.0, the .zip, and then extract in on the server or extract it on your pc and upload it over the old files via an FTP program. Thanks though for reporting the issue, the auto-upgrader should work. Maybe I can test this out next week, if no one else has it fixed till then.

It works! By deleting the indicated file, the blog content appears again in the browser. Thanks a lot, onli, for your efficent support.

As for updating to 'serendipity stable v2.5.0' I'll better wait for the update of the automatic upgrade-processor. Taking into account my sound half-knowledge I likely would destroy more than achieve ...
