Hi! Just a note: I'm not aware that the plugin has an active maintainer, though I might be mistaken. If you do understand some PHP code it might be very much worthwhile to debug this issue in the plugin (and maybe in Serendipity) by yourself. If there are questions I might be able to support you a bit with that.
