MySchizoBuddy blog

Post by MySchizoBuddy »

Here is my blog.
I decided to port a beautiful elegant theme "leaf" made by Ivan Fong for NucleusCMS and use it as my current theme.

How can i get it posted on the "Who is using s9y list"
I would like it to be posted as.

Nice site. You did a good job with the port.

Can you comment on how easy/hard it is to port a template from another blog/cms application?

I use a program called Xylescope to see what styles are used for what text or image or tags. I just click on text or image and it shows me the CSS style that r applied to it. and also the corresponding html Its one kickass app. :)

It does help to know the serendipity template system. cause porting most of the time does require editing of *.tpl files. which isn't hard at all really. just stay clear of anything inside the {} brackets and know ur html.

Another thing to worry about are inherit differences between the two CMS systems. NucleusCMS doesn't have threaded comments, s9y by default has threaded comments, So even after porting ur blog won't be 100% the same.

lastly patience and trial and error helps too :) and always validate ur XHTML and CSS

give it a try. its not hard really.

MySchizoBuddy, this is a great port, very nice! Would you like to share the template to our repository? It seems drupal also have a port of the template so it should be alright license-wise? If yes, please contact me and I'll add the theme (of course putting your credits in!).

You can add yourself to the "Who is using" s9y list by clicking on the "edit" button top right; the wiki is freely accessible for everyone.

Garvin

Sure garvin we can put it up on the repository. :P

I'm thinking of making it Div based instead of table based. and so far i haven't had any luck. I'm having height issues.

Also have to make the font interm of em or %. right now i have em as px. so IE doesn't allow increasing of font size.

SchizoBuddy, yeah - some templates simply don't work div-based.

Can you put the template as a ZIP somewhere so I can add it to the repository? :-))

Or, if you want to get yourself familar with CVS, you can add it yourself if you prefer! :)
