comments & trackbacks questions

Post by vossi »

i like serendipity very much and i really like handling and using its features but there are 2 things that i don't understand really:

1) comments

i checked the option that the comment window will NOT be opened in a new window but i really want to have the blog entry on the same page with the comments .. the problem is that it really is not this way .. (you can see it on my page http://vossi.at/ )

it is this way -> http://vossi.at/comment.php?serendipity ... ]=comments

but i want my comment page to be like this link i get in the trackback section -> http://vossi.at/index.php?/archives/5_m ... ition.html

2) trackbacks

what are they and how can i use them? :D
i googled bout it and looked into the faq but i found out nothing :(

hope anyone can help me

Hi!

You can see the comments + entry by clicking on the title link (vossi.at/archives/XX_.html. The comments page will always only display the comments because that's a de-facto standard on blogging applications. If you only want to have the title link available you could hide the "comment"-link via CSS....?

Trackbacks are described in our new documentation area on s9y.org.

Hope that helps,
Garvin.

hi garvinhicking ..

thanks for your answer i now know about trackbacks.

but how do you mean hide the comments link with css? do you only mean to color them in background color? i wouldn't do this one :)

i really can live with comments only on the comment page but it would be nice to have the option to choose (maybe in some of your next versions? :) )

Hi Vossi!

You could use a 'display: none' attribute, so the contents are really hidden from being rendered.

We'll try to see what we can do about this :)
