None of the WYSIWYG editor plugins work

So I've tried all 3; and none of them seem to work. fckeditor is now ckeditor; I've tried the older one and it still doesn't work. I'm looking for the "tool bar" for the entry editor but nothing shows up.

Read I think from one of the posts that TinyMCE 3.0+ doesn't work anymore with the plugin; and tried xinha and that didn't work either..

Is there ANY plugin that works to get the options bar on the WYSIWYG editor?????

Which Serendipity version is running?
The default WYSIWYG-Editor is xinha, delivered by release.
There is no need to install something extra, like plugins... if you do not want to change the one already delivered.
In the backend sidebar, under 'personal setting' you will find an option to turn it on or off in general.

WYSIWYG is on, but my wife would like the little "buttons" like Bold, Italic, Quote, Img, URL etc.. like I'm seeing above this as I type.. Right now, there are no buttons.

Well, then she has her own account, I assume.
If WYSIWYG is ON, you don't see those buttons, as they are the fallback BBC-mode, if not using a WYSIWYG-Editor.
Maybe you have set the general option using Xinha for all your users to yes (Useradministration)?
Under 'personal setting' she should be able to turn WYSIWYG OFF by an option.
If you also have some WYSIWYG-Editors installed by plugin, you need to deactivate or deinstall them.
