Trackbacks.....

Trackbacks are driving me insane.

How on earth are they supposed to work? All I want to do is link to an entry in another blog and add a trackback.
I've searched the last year of mailing list archives but can't find anything useful.

As far as I understood the use of trackbacks:

You can't trackbacks automatically! The system itself recognizes them! It works like this:

(1) A different blog adds a link to an entry in your blog.
(2) s9y recognizes the referrer and adds the link of the blog where the referrers for your entry came from as an trackback
(3) if you now look on the trackbacks, there will be the URL of the blog which links to your entry

But correct me, if I'm wrong!

That's what I thought, but it's just not happening. Blogs I link to don't get trackbacked, and blogs that link to me don't get trackbacked either.

It looking more and more like trackbacks simply don't work at all in s9y. If I link to an entry on another blog (also running s9y) it should be trackbacked, yes? So why isn't it?
It seems that I can receive trackbacks, but outgoing trackbacks aren't working.

Has anyone using the latest s9y managed to have something they've linked to trackbacked?

The only trackbacks your version of s9y can show are incoming ones - everything else wouldn't be useful.

So a trackback is a notice that a different blog linked to this entry.

What I mean is, that s9y isn't sending trackbacks to other Blogs I link to...
