Five second lag to database

My other blogs at the same server on the same computer are okay, but the new one I have just begun work on seems to have about a 6 second delay trying to find the database. I got fast Comcast and 6 seconds to me may be 30 seconds to DSL.
I put all the articles (there are only three) in draft and then tried it and it went fine. Put the articles back and 6 second lag before it begins reading or loading. that is why I am leaning to a DB issue.
Before I call the server I want to see if anyone can think of something else it may be. New configuration and setup and all...
