Help!
I have a bad bug...there must be a robot out there because I received about 100 really nasty pornographic trackbacks to one of my blog entries. I quickly erased them--they appeard on my weblog--on my professional website!--and pressed the "no trackbacks" .
So, the problem is OK for the moment, but can you please get rid of this bug so that I can once again allow trackbacks and comments?
Many thanks! sbkpr

Hi!
Trackback and comment moderation is always your own problem.
You can install the antispam plugin and try to configure it to your needs. The bottom line is: You will always receive spam, no matter which blog software you use. It's a human problem, not a software problem.

I have now got 1300 spam trackbacks in 3 days.
spam protection was enabled, so there is a bot that can get around spam protection.
I have just installed recaptcha , and will see how that goes.
any idea how to delete bulk trackbacks? i will post a new message

Hi!
Trackback spam has no real protection, you can only use Akismet to try to fight against it.
There is little mean against trackback spam, you can only completely disable trackbacks.
Captchas cannot technically be applied to Trackback spam, they will not make a change at all.

You can mass-delete trackbacks through the s9y admin comment moderation panel.

Hi.
I wrote an article about averting trackback SPAM right at the server without letting them intrude into the S9Y blog:
http://blog.brockha.us/index.php?/archi ... ehren.html (an English version of this article is available, too, by switching the language chooser at my site).
Another very good protection against SPAM bots is the "Trackback/Pingback: ip validation" of the AntiSpam Plugin.
These two protection made my blog free from published trackback SPAMs.
The first option is the best, because it decreases the server load a lot for DoS like spamers. But you have to do something for it to make it work.
The second one (IP validation) is the most efficient, because it will work automatically on Spamers not known yet, too. But it will do nothing about the server load, as the Spamer reaches the blog with this method (but publishing will be prevented at least).
I use both. The method using the .htaccess file is my first line of defence preventing many spamers from reaching the blog by sending them an ACCESS DENIED. The second line is the IP validation, that filters out the spammers who made it through the first line of defence.
This is working extremely good at my blog: I had no published SPAM trackbacks and no false positives.

Do you have a direct link to the English ? I can't get the language to change from German in either Firefox or IE
Thanks

In his language drop down selector, first select German, allow the page to load, then select English. You should get the article in English that way.
