bbcode code box stretching page in IE7

In IE 7, the bbcode box is stretching my page when a line in the quoted code snippet is long.
Both vertical and horizontal scrollbars show correctly in the code page, but the code box is just too wide.
firefox is fine.
I initially had default serendipity 3.0 skin, and have the same result when I switched to blue streak skin
IE 6 is also doing a similar thing.
