I'm quoting a message to me from Garvin on November 5th:

In your case: go to your s9y configuration screen and set the option "Strict RFC2616 RSS-Feed compatibility" to true. This will prevent updated articles to show up again in your RSS feed.

I set 'Enable strict RFC2616 etc.' as 'Yes' at that time.

Today at 11.59 CET I posted an entry 'Translating Freud / Freud ins Englisch übersetzen'. Later, at 16:00, I reposted it after correcting the header to 'ins Englisch*e* übersetzen'.

On both occasions, it appeared at www.jurablogs.de, which publishes German lawblog feeds.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi!

What do you mean by "I reposted it"? Did you create a new entry and deleted the old one?

If you change the title of an RSS feed item, most RSS clients will interpret that as a new item.

I mean I corrected the header by adding one letter and pressed Save. This is exactly the situation where I thought that option would stop the entry appearing in the feed again. Otherwise there is no point selecting Yes for that option, is there? Or does it work if I change something in the text but not the header?

Hi!

Actually, the option just deals with changed content. Changing the title for RSS feeds is a much more complicated issue, because it also affects RSS clients. You'll need to live with RSS aggregators and clients to show your items as new when you change their title.

Thanks. I could never have guessed that. But I don't alter the header very often, so that's OK. The rubbish usually starts in the body.
