Dumb migration questions

Hello, it's been a while since I've been in here. I hope all my s9y friends are doing well.

Anyway, I know migrating from host to host is covered in the FAQ's, but I have some dumb questions and I'm hoping I can get some easy answers.

1 - I'm migrating from XYZ.com to XY.com will this cause any problems when I import my db via phpmyadmin?

2 - Prior to importing my db via phpmyadmin onto my new host, do I need to create a new database via the cPanel mySQL applet. I know that may sound really stupid, but it's stupider not to ask.

3 - Is there a way I can just export the blog posts from my old host so I can just re-enter them manually, should everything else fail.

Many thanks.

Well I've spent some time getting all this happening.

I tried to restore my db with phpmyadmin before I created a db and it didn't work. I tried after I created a db and it worked. So I guess I've answered my own question there.

I've managed to get most of my site moved onto the new host, just waiting for dns changes to propogate.

It's not too hard really, you just got to take your time.

Hi!

Right, this should go smoothly. Check your serendipity_config_local.inc.php file if it contains the right new mysql account details so that you can connect to the new DB!

Garvin

Hi Garvin,

Yep I edited that php file and all looks OK so far, still waiting for dns to propogate, once it does I'll be able to check it all properly.
