Link fudging

I am not sure what to call it but I notice some do it and I wonder how frowned upon it is.

When I got the 50,000 pageviews for an article, it had a 90% exit page too. So they come to the article, which is rather short and they only see the top screen the sidebars and leave. The dont go to the frontpage.

So when using all the various diggers, I changed the URL from the article to the blog, they would be forced to scroll down to find it and see all the ads and the blogroll and my internal links.

I have noticed some blogs do this.
It is a typical kind of thing to do?
Is it really naughty? :)
Does it have any adverse affects?

Thanx
