Wow. Glad it worked! If you ever figure out what caused the errors, I'd like to know so I can prevent it from happening to others.
Sorry for being inprecise. Those failed entries in the plugin page were successfully removed. But did not change anything, unfortunally.

Rats, premature celebration.
So, would you be willing to run a debug version of the karma plugin on your server, or provide me a blog on which to run a debug version? Essentially, I can't replicate your problem, so I can't debug it any further at this point.

I too am experiencing this exact same problem. The karma rating appears on the extended post, but not on the frontpage.
Have either of you determined the cause of this issue?

For anyone watching this: psiege is very helpful, and we may have already found the problem. We'll continue debugging, and I'll announce a fix in a separate thread in the "Plugins" forum once we've fixed it.

A solution has been found. It's included in the nightly 1.4 builds and in the 1.3 branch in SVN at berlios.de.

You no longer need to upgrade to 1.4-alpha or deal with SVN to get the karma fix.
We just released Serendipity 1.3.1, and it includes the karma fixes.

Thanks, after upgrading it works on all my blogs.
(sorry for answering late, but I did not watch this thread anymore, after some time).
A big thanks to all who debugged it and release serendipity 1.3.1.
