- Upgraded from 1.3.1 to 1.4 today, used to not use the WYSIWYG editor.
- Changed the setting in my profile (as admin)
- doublechecked in User Management
- on "New Entry" Xinha was only shown on after a logout /login
I'll try it with just closing the browser window on another installation
Not really annoying, just reporting for completeness.

Yeah, the s9y.org release announcement also mentions it's best to flush your browser's cache to prevent outdated files being used from your cache.
