Word, Name, Phrase Linking via html

Post by MidNiteRaver »

I recently came across Answers.com. They offer the ability to link words, names, phrases on your site to Answers.com explanations,
as in the following examples:

http://www.answers.com/brilliant or http://www.answers.com/Mona+Lisa

For link color/style options, you can also use their topic link tool, accessible from the left column of any Answers.com definition.
Answer Boxes

Visitors to your site can enjoy free, instant answers. Just choose the design you prefer, click 'Copy to Clipboard', paste it into the HTML on your own site, and you're all set!

I cut and pasted that ... just edited a bit. The only thing I wasn't able to find out is if they are gathering information with the "Topic link tool".

My question is... can you provide a button on the text editor that generated the html code "http://www.answers.com". If I remember it needs the "href" and other code. Basically what is needed is all the code to hyperlink a word, requiring you to just insert the word in the html code. That way all you see on the weblog is the word, name or phrase not the hyper link html code. I think I explained that. I must still be in the Monday morning daze. 8)

I think something like the wikipedia finder plugin is much more suitable for this?

Like a sidebar plugin always being able to display highlighted words.

If not, have a look at the emoticonchooser plugin; creating a button for injecting this custom HTML snippet should be easy.

Best regards,
