Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 10304 bytes) in /home/vandegoo/public_html/include/functions_images.inc.php on line 1231
Anyone know what this is and more important: how to fix it? I never had it before and it now happens when I try to upload a pictures.
Thanks in advance!

What type and kind is the file you try to upload? Try to upload a very small JPG.
Keep in mind that JPEGs can grow giant in memory, when being loaded into PHP. A 2MB JPEG can easily take up 60MB of RAM, whereas your provider only allows 32MB. This means you cannot upload JPEGs larger than about 1MB in size through serendipity (you would need to do that manually via FTP, and manually create thumbnails).

I was trying to upload a 67kb JPG. But I don't think that's it: I also run Coppermine which is a online photoalbum and I have uploaded huge resolution JPG's there (4000+ pixels and 10mb and more)...
Not to mention I have uploaded many bigger files using S9y...
It's just weird...

Never had that before either...
I did have my hosting at Site5 upgraded though. Maybe its a problem at their end...

Ok, I think it's the server cause the problem is intermittent: it works and then it doesn't. I have submitted a support ticket and hope they know how to fix it.
Btw: I host at http://www.site5.com. I have hardly any problems with them and their prices are downright cheap for what you get.

I have also begun to receive errors similar to these - and only with 500k images. I have uploaded substantially larger in the past with no issues, and I have plenty of disk space. Was this problem resolved in the end?

I kept having weird errors like this. So instead of using GDlib I switched to ImageMagick and have never received an error like this again...

I've also been getting this error when merely trying to access the image library
Unable to locate the file entitled .TheVi, maybe it has already been deleted?
Unable to locate the file entitled .betwe, maybe it has already been deleted?
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3072 bytes) in /home/mountai1/public_html/include/functions_images.inc.php on line 1231
Most frustrating and totally out of the blue. I've not tried to use the FTP function as yet. To see if the problem is similar there.

How large are the files in your media library? You might want to check your s9y configuration and disable the "Automatic image synchronization" feature of the MDB.
Unable to locate the file entitled .TheVi, maybe it has already been deleted?
Unable to locate the file entitled .betwe, maybe it has already been deleted?
This sounds as if you uploaded files that started with a dot? S9y doesn't like such files because it cannot parse the proper file extension then...

Hi I'm getting yet more problems when I try to add images to my media library - I'm getting the following errors:
Warning: move_uploaded_file(/home/mountai1/public_html/uploads/photo_beach.jpg) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/mountai1/public_html/include/admin/images.inc.php on line 299
Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/tmp/phpyxHRfy' to '/home/mountai1/public_html/uploads/photo_beach.jpg' in /home/mountai1/public_html/include/admin/images.inc.php on line 299
Unknown error occurred, file not uploaded. Maybe your filesize is larger than the maximum size allowed by your server installation. Check with your ISP or edit your php.ini file to allow larger file size uploads.
Could someone please advise on the best course of action here please?
Great stuff, cheers
Matt

Sounds like the permissions on /home/mountai1/public_html/uploads/ don't allow the Serendipity user to write there. You could check the permissions, perhaps change them to 766?
