Hey gang,
I'm sure this has been answered somewhere but I can't seem to find it. I have a client who would like to be able to post word docs and excel files to their blog for others to download. Is this possible through serendipity? I'm researching a bunch of blog programs and this one seems to be an excellent choice. If this is possible I'm certain the client will want it.
Thanks very much for any help!
Word Docs/excel Docs, etc...
Yes, it can be done. I'm assuming he just wants the files downloadable, not that he wants them displayed as HTML on his blog.
Just add them to the Media Library like any other file. Serendipity will attempt to create thumbnails for them, but will recognize that they aren't pictures.
Add the links to your entries with the Media button. Serendipity will recognize that it's not a picture, and only allow you to insert a link to the file.
When a visitor clicks on the link, the file will be downloaded.
I do this regularly for archives. (PHP, HTML, and other interpreted types aren't allowed, though.)
