Say you wanted the 5 most recent entries from category #1..... and you want to display them using a modified version of your entries.tpl... this is one way you might do that:

Code: Select all

{serendipity_fetchPrintEntries limit="0,5" category="1" full="true" use_footer="false" skip_smarty_hooks="true" template="entries_modified.tpl"}

That's just what I needed - a code example showing the syntax for this. Thanks a lot, Don! :)

Just a little status update: I'm on it, and it's looking pretty decent. Just a couple of quirks to fix and some features to figure out, but nothing badly any more. Might still take a week or so :)

Ok, I see that the Mimbo theme is very nice. But it just isn't my cup of tea. Can I ask for another 'magazine' style template? I'd like to see the The Morning After template ported to S9Y. I too offer a present or some money for whoever does it. (Worked for Mimbo, didn't it?)

You can of course ask for anything, the question is: Is someone gonna do it :wink:

Personally, I'm torn on this. I promised myself not to do too many ports from that other blog engine, and I promised someone else and myself not to do a magazine style template for a loooong time. It's usually a pain in the rear end to do.

However, I've been wanting to look at grid based designs, and this is based on one. Plus, I have some spare time, and I could use some extra money or something off of my amazon wishlist (no reason to discuss this now).

Tell you what, I'll take a look at it and report back here later.

Thank you. Thats all I ask for. It would be great to have more non-standard s9y themes. Its the only thing that other blog engine is supreme in: the pure number of users, themes and plugins.

So I have taken a peek at the template. For starters, I guess it is actually portable to s9y. However, it will take considerable time and effort, even more than Mimbo, although I can probably use a lot of the stuff I used in Mimbo. Plus, I'm still waiting to hear from the original's author to see whether he's okay with a port.

Bottom line: I don't know yet. Let me mull over this over the weekend. I'll contact you via PM on Monday and tell you if and how you can bribe me :wink:
