Unwanted automatic Unicode selection

Post by hmesker »

Since I upgraded to version 1.2, Firefox and IE automatically switch to Unicode (UTF8) when I visit my weblog (http://www.itcn.nl/serendipity), even though this feature is turned off in the browsers. This produces some unwanted characters, mainly replaced by ''. Is this something in Serendipity or something in the browsers/Windows?

Kind regards,

Harmen.

Hi!

When I use Firefox or IE here to view your page, everything's fine. HTML and HTTP both use ISO-8859-1 as the charset, and as does my browser...?

Garvin

Hi Garvin, thanks for your reply. I wonder why I am not seeing my website in the right character set. When I go to my weblog the character set is automatically set to Unicode. I switch it to Western, everything looks fine. I refresh the page - and it's back to Unicode. :? Do you have a clue to what causes this behaviour? I'm using the very latest versions of both browsers. Although I prefer Firefox, of course.

Kind regards,

Harmen.

Hi!

Did you try reinstallation a fresh version of a browser? Did you enable your extensions through safe mode for a test?

Where is your character set set to Unicode, how do you see that? Does the Firefox PageInfo tell you that it's in UTF-8?

Regards,
Garvin
