Comments Reply Not Working

Post by DMotel »

When I leave a reply to a comment it works for the first time and then when I try to do it again either the grey background does not appear (you will see many replies to comments that have no grey backgrounds if you look at the site) OR I click on Reply and nothing happens no box appears for me to leave a reply. The only thing I can do is logout, close the browser and start all over again (very tedious process if replying to many people's comments).

Is there a way to reply without having to do it on the site? Is there a plugin that will allow me to do it in the comments section of the admin tool? Can I do it using my html editor and then ftp it? Basically: anyway to reply without having to click on "Reply" which doesn't work usually.

Thanks in advance

Hi!

After you've made a comment you need to simply click on the entry link again to see the comment box again.

This is a security/anti-spam measurement to not make it easily for people to spam you.

You can change it via smarty templating and the commentform.tpl / comments.tpl files with some smarty knowledge, though.

Serendipity 1.2 has a shortcut to reply in the admin comment section, yes.

You cannot FTP it, because comments are stored in the SQL database.

Garvin

Thanks. Any idea why the replies are not turning grey?

Nevermind it seems to be working now. THANKS!
Actually if I could somehow get these to all have the grey Background (the way they are supposed to) instead of having to delete each one and then start over that sure would be helpful!

Doug - what is the permalink to an entry that actually has comments?
