Couldn't change Theme/ Template

Post by muetze »

Hi,

in the admin backend i normally could change the template i want. At the moment the kubrick template runs well, but i also want to try some other template. I could try different templates but the frontend wouldn't change, everything look like the same.

Why?

What do i have to change?

Is there any file where i have to change the chmod?

You could have a look at my site at http://www.muetzenhausen.de . At the moment i switches to the RTL-Languages v0.1 style. But it din't look like that wahat i wanted.

Serendipity 0.8 offers a new restyled Admin interface which is seperate from the frontend.

There currently are no alternate backend themes known to us, they will surely get developed in the future!

Hi,

think you missunderstood my question. I didn't want to change the admin / backend style. I want to change the frontend in the admin panel. At the momet the frontend looks very well.

So what do i have to do, to change the frontend style (which every user could see).

After changing the style in the admin panel, nothing happened. I only could change the kubrick theme an the one which ist online at the moment.

Muetze,

ah. okay. It seems to be you have a freaked installation. I'll continue in german because it's unlikely someone else could have the same problem. If so, short version is: There should be no 'serendipity.css' in your base serendipity directory! Delete it.

I have the same problem, with a twist. When I first installed this one, everything was fine. As soon as I tried to change templates, my BACKEND template disappeared. It works fine, but it's just plain text in tables.

Now I can't change the template on the front end without the same thing happening. I deleted a "serendipity.css.php" file in the root directory, but that doesn't seem to have helped.

Restore your serendipity.css.php file, without it, serendipity cannot display ANY template. Never delete core serendipity files, lol :-)

I did, but the problems persist.

--No backend template (administration)

--Cannot switch to any template but Kubrick - if I do, it loses all CSS formatting.

EDITED TO ADD: Whoops. This was all because somehow I deleted the trailing slash after my "URL to blog" in Configuration.
