Creating categories and seperating them?

I've tried searching for answers here and don't think I've found any. What I am trying to accomplish is having my categories be separate entries. Meaning, I don't want my blog to be a continuous thread. Rather, I'd like a user to be able to navigate from a main page. For instance...
User A wants technology items but does not want to navigate through sex toys. :p
In short....
A user can navigate the blog by categories as opposed to sifting through non-essential items.

Hi!

Uhm, you can create a category in your blog and then use the category sidebar plugin to make people navigate to those categories.

Then they only see entries written in that category.

The mainpage will still show all articles. But you could create a category "Start Page" and use the "Start PAge Category" plugin to set that category as the default starting category, so people will see only those entries and need to navigate to the specific category if they want to read other stuff.
