Having access to a spell checker when adding entries would be very nice.

No, but it would be cool to use pspell to spellcheck

there is a spellcheck plugin for htmlarea. So if you are using the WYSIWYG editor you can load the plugin.

I don't know the url, but searching google for htmlarea spellcheck will pull it up.
