How to send trackback ping?

Post by skyroam »

I am using s9y_200501061337.tar.gz.
I found it can detected trackback from the other blogs.
But I can't find the entry to input url to send track ping to the other blogs when I post a new topic.
And I haven't find some plugin together with this cvs package that can do this.
What should I do ? :?:
Appreciate for your any help!

You want to insert some URLs manually which you don't enter in your body text? Or do you want to send pingbacks to blogservices?

The first one you can do with the serendipity_event_trackback plugin (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... trackback/).

The last one can be done with the bundled serendipity_event_weblogping module...

I want to post a blog in my blog with the original articles's track ping url entered so that the article posted
in my blog can be seen in the original blog.
I am not sure whether this can be described as sending track ping.

I do not mind the way that I input the url.

I hope that I have let my words understood.
 My english is quite poor.

Do you mean that I can input the "trackback ping url" in
"Entry Body" or "Extended Body" ? But how to distinguish
"track ping url" from the url in content?

I have checked my plugin directory and I found
serendipity_event_weblogping.But it is very strange that
I can't found it in add plugin section
(http://localhost/serendipity/serendipit ... ype]=event)
here is the event plugins that I can add:

Oh I got it. :D
  • After I add

    Code: Select all

    <a href="some refer url">track back</a>

It give me a error about sending track back to url's port 80.
It is possilbe that the free hosting sevices deny outgoing connection.
It is a shame that I haven't read the excelent document that you provided
    completely.
  • yeah,I like enter the url manually in another box to distinguish it from
    the others.
And I also have to custom the blogservice's url to set up a blog group
in subnet(my computer have to connect the internet via proxy in subnet,so I have to test it like this if no free hosting service suitable found).
If serendipity can support http proxy, everything will be good!

Now it is time to test the plugin that you refered to . :D:
    Thank you very much!

It can very well be that your provider has allow_url_fopen deactivated! In that case you're screwed and need to tell your provide to activate it.

Usually if you want to refer to an article from a foreign blog, you just put the <a href="..."> stuff into your body or extended entry part. Serendipity will then autodiscover the URL to trackback, as most blogs put that extra information in their HTML page. If you trackback to an old blog, you may need to use the provided "Trackback URL" and that is then the URL you need to enter into the serendipity_event_trackback plugin I talked about.

HTTP Proxy support may be available if we switch our trackback code to use the PEAR-modules File_Request...but that may take some time.

BTW, if you're german and having too much problems, just post in german, and I'll try to answer it better. However then most other users may not get help out of a thread. :)

I am very sorry for my poor english which destroy the function of the thread and waste your time.
And it is a pity that I hardly know german.
I will try my best to study english and think carefully
before post in the future.
I have understood these problems with this thread.
All of your reply give me great help. And I can understand your
english at ease. :D
Thank you again!

This is the trackback URL, and not the HTML page with RDF trackback metadata, like one usually trackbacks to.

The kevinrose.com does not seem to cover the full RDF Trackback Specification, so Serendipity cannot autodetec the URL.

You need to install the serendipity_event_trackback plugin I talked about and use that one to enter your URL to send a trackback.

Hello! I have to apologize upfront for any silly questions I might ask. I'm new to trying to customize my blog.

I have downloaded the following plug-in:

"The first one you can do with the serendipity_event_trackback plugin (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... trackback/). "

And have it uploaded into my plug-in directory. Is there more that I must do at this time in order to get it to show up in my admin drop-down box of event plug-ins? Because it is not.

Thank you for any assistance you can give...valhall.

Valhall, yes you need to make more. First, you have put the file into its own subdirectory "serendipity_event_trackback", right?

Then you need to go to your Plugin Configuration Menu, scroll down to the Event plugins and click on the link "Click here to install a new event plugin". Then click on the icon next to the plugin call "Manual trackback" (or something like that)

Garvin
