Photoblog plugin
Photoblog plugin
Ok, apart from not being able to update entries, my photoblog plugins are complete.
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... _photoblog
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... thumbnails
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/p ... _photoblog
Extract the file in the plugins directory. There are two plugins. The event plugin allows you to associate an image in the media library with a blog entry. The sidebar plugin shows the most recent entries as thumbnails.
Currently the only known issue is that you cannot update existing entries to include images. Only new blog entries can have an image. I'm trying to fix that now, and hopefully the next release will have that fixed.

Re: Photoblog plugin
Would you like to add the plugin (as soon as the 'updating problem' is resolved) to our additional_plugins CVS repository?
I could either give you CVS karma for maintaining the plugin yourself, or I can add it for you - it depends on what you like.
Any way, thanks a lot for your work!
Regards,
Garvin

Well the updating problem is fixed now. I've updated the zip to include the new versions.
Sure I can add it to the CVS repository, just email me the relevant details.
I've been asked "What's the point of this plugin? Couldn't you just add an img link in the body of an entry?"
The answer is yes and no. There are two photoblog plugins. One is an event plugin that allows you to add an image to each entry. The other plugin is a sidebar plugin that acts much like the Recent Entries plugin. The sidebar plugin will display the most recent entries as thumbnails, and if you're on the page of a particular entry, it will display the entries before and after it as thumbnails.
I'm trying to mimic a thumbnail system like http://photos.agray.org/ or http://www.chromasia.com/iblog/thumbnails.php.

Two big problems
Hi there,
I loved your plugin. It is exactly what I was looking for. But I have two little problems with it.
The first problem I'm not sure is a plugin related problem. When I insert the picture it won't matter the size of it, it will always too little.
The second problem is that in the Photoblog Entries I'm not able to see any thumbnail, just a link to nowhere.
Now, I will tell you what I have done, so you can understand better what is happening.
I installed the three ziped files. Then I effectivally installed the plugin, through the administration panel and the two event plugins too.
Then I went to test. I created an entry and clicked Midia. Then I picked up the photo I wanted and it was a big one. Then, in the box that says Photoblog Entries I searched for the same photo.
Then I saved.
The picture shows up in the entry, but in a small size. I wanted it to be bigger.
And it won't show in the side bar, as I said before.
Since everything else works so smoothly and I am not a programmer, I don't want to take any chances.
Can you help me out?
Thanks in advance,
Claudia

First of all, you don't need to add the image to the body of entry. If you have an image selected in the photoblog box then it will automatically show up in the entry.
Secondly, when selecting an image for an entry, make sure you select the full image and not the thumbnail. I'll add some code to make sure the thumbnail is not selected.
Can you tell me the address of your blog so I can see what the problem is?

Hi again,
Thanks for you fast answer.
The add is http://blog.brblog.com
I tried posting the way you told me, but no img appears. It must be the murphy factor

Hi there,
thanks for this nice plugin.
I installed it and it works just fine, actually too fine.
In the sidebar (photoblog entries) it also shows recent entries
that are not using the photolog picture.
Is there any way that only articles using the photolog extension
are listed in the sidebar?
Thanks in advance,
zERo
Blog (test version) can be found here: http://coldworld.11am.de
Vice-versa:
The serendipity recent entries plugin lists the photolog image entry.
Maybe a full integration into a newer version would take care of
the above effects. Personally, I think that such a photolog plugin
is very useful and, when displaying the right stuff in the sidebar, really
neat to look at

There is now. I've updated the plugin to include a config option to turn off non-photoblog entries showing up.zERo wrote:Is there any way that only articles using the photolog extension

That's because that plugin isn't aware of the photoblog stuff.zERo wrote:Vice-versa:

Not showing thumbnail
Hi,
i think this is a good plugin, but i cannot make it work.
In the sidebar it shows an empty area:
I installed the serendipity_event_photoblog, serendipity_event_thumbnails and serendipity_plugin_photoblog. I create a new post, fill the photo but the Photoblog in the sidebar doesnt show anything.
Is this normal? I tried to correct it but i couldnt.
Many thanks for any help.

Photoblog funzt net
I very like this Photo-Plugin, but it doesn't work the way it should.
Ok, here is what I do:
New Entry, then insert a photo (not the thumbnail), then click on "Save Entry", go to the blog and there is no thumbnail in the Photoblog-Sidebar but an empty place with a broken-link-sign.
Then I guessed, that the changes weren't in the database and look:
table_serendipity_photoblog:
entryid photoid
43 0
58 0
51 0
It makes an entry, but inserts no photoid when you click on "save entry"!
Then I changed the photoid and the thumb was shown in the sidebar. Next time i edited my article and clicked on "Save entry" the thumb was gone.
I looked in the source, but didn't find anything.
Now the question: What is wrong? Is it s.th I did, or is it the sourcecode?
Where is the source for saving the entries in the table_serendipity_photoblog?
And one thing, too:
I want to have a thumbnail in the sidebar, but dont want to show the pic in my entry, because i want to write text with the image. When the image is inserted by the plugin, i can't decide WHERE it is placed. So maybe we can change that, with a small radiobutton/checkbox/whatever, where you can decide, if the image is shown in the entry or not....
Thanx

More trouble...
I seem to be having a different problem to others, but still a problem with photoblog.
When editing a new entry, I get the additional editor for specifying a photoblog entry. I click 'photo', I get the image selector. I click an image, specify that I want the thumbnail and not the full size image, and it inserts an appropriate URL in the form, typically something like: /blog/uploads/z1.serendipityThumb.jpg. I enter my entry text and save the entry. Now I see that the thumbnail URL has changed to /blog/uploads/z1.jpg, and on viewing the blog, the full-size image appears inline instead of the thumbnail. This just seems like a bug?

Problem remains with CVS version
I just installed the most recent CVS version (1.10) of photoblog, and I'm still getting the same problem.
