Phone Blog, Wikipedia

Post by Ratatosk »

Look at http://www.phoneblogz.com/...

I tried the plugin for Wordpress, it works great, what do you think about contacting the devellopper to make a plugin for Serendipity ? Do you think it could be usefull for Serendipity user, or that Phoneblogz owners would be interested in making a s9y plugin ? Don't be afraid, the UK telephone number you must call to phoneblog is a normal number, my fist 12 test messages (3 minutes total) costed me 1€...

If you want to try Phoneblogz, I have 4 invitations for people who (really!) want to try it, send me a message...

Another question, do you know if there is a plugin to insert a wikipedia search field in the side bar ?

Thank you,

R.

I think converting the WP plugin to s9y is not that hard. I'll do it today.

For the wikipedia: Yes, a serendipity_plugin_wikipedia_finder is in our spartacus repository!

Thank you.

I know the wikipedia plugin that is already available, but whith it you must select a word in the text and clik on the wikipedia icon on the sidebar. What I'm looking for is a sidebar wikipedia search plugin that would open a new wikipedia window containing the searched word...

Not really important, don't worry.

Abour phoneblogz, I think you'll waste your time if you convert their wordpress plugin, because they modify it many times to get out beta status... it would be more time saving to tell the phoneblogz develloppers how to convert they wordpress plugin into a serendipty plugin, so they can do that every time they publish a new version...

A new question : what is the better way to help your translating s9y English plugins into French ? I could do it for you, as my French is far better than my poor English :D ...

Hi!

About the wikipedia thing: you should be able to create a simple HTML nugget with a form to the wikipedia page in that case. That isn't any special functionality so you can put it in that nugget simply. :)

Yes, but I think if I convert their existing plugin, they will easily know the s9y API and be able to maintain it for themselves. :)

I'm nearly finished, expect results in an hour or so. :)

You can just translate the "lang_en.inc.php" files to "lang_fr.inc.php", and as a UTF-8 version inside the UTF-8 subdirectory. You can then send those files to my mail address or publish them here so I'll commit them. :)

Look here: http://nopaste.php-q.net/186348

It is not yet tested as I not yet had a phoneblogz account. But it might work. I'll also contact the developers!

Hi all,

Matt from PhoneBlogz here - just wanted to say Hi!

I'm working with Garvin to produce a plugin for Serendipity, should be able to run some tests over the next day or two. I've not worked with Serendipity before so there's a learning curve in this for me but Garvin's already written the plugin so as we change the system to get it out of Beta I should be able to maintain the plugin easily.

Thanks for being interested!

Hey Matt!

Very cool of you to join the forums here. I am sure that both Serendipity users and me as a developer appreciate this. Your service is really distinct, and I'd love to have Serendipity support for that. :-)

Feel free to ask for issues about Serendipity any time you like. And I hope you'll enjoy Serendipity's plugin system. :-)

Best regards,
Garvin

OK, I'm now happy translating a plugin... But... what is the best way to create an UTF-8 version of the lang_fr.inc.php file please ?

Thank you...

And for people who want invitations to PhoneBlogz, I have 4 for you...

R.

EDIT : ok I found http://www.dotclear.net/tools/iso2utf8.php or the Unifier shareware program to convert Latin 1 to UTF-8... Sorry !

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I've just installed Serendipity for the first time and everything went smoothly. It's a great looking system and I'm looking forward to working with Garvin on the PhoneBlogz plugin and making sure that we support Serendipity as well as we can.

I'm personally quite surprised how well received PhoneBlogz has been. The idea jumped into my head mid-December and since the very first test I'm hearing lots of positive comments.

Stay tuned!

Quick update - version 0.4 was released today. This features support for PhoneBlogz' multi-user features as well as using the new XMLRPC API and several bug fixes.

Replace Phoneblogz skin?

Post by hudson-valley-dad »

Phoneblogz is a pretty neat tool but their player is pretty ugly. I tried replacing the swf file with the nicer one from "1 Pixel Out" but nothing happened. Anyone know if it is possible to use a nicer player with this?
