I suppose he wants to have a "Register" Form where one can create his own login.

This is not possible, because of obvious reasons: You don't want anybody simply registering to your blog via a form, because those people could then flood your blog.

The way it would work is, they sent you an email (you can offer a formmail as HTML nugget for that, or a link with your mail) and tell the people to write you when they want to have an account to your blog. Then you can create one via the User Management panel inside the administration.

Regards,
Garvin.

multi blogger

Post by BrianV »

Yes, what am I talking about? I am talking about something like blogger.com, where users can create their own blogs from a user gui. A multi blogger. I have just spent the last week trying to get blogroller working on Tomcat, don't know why it looks ugly. I was hoping Serendipity was such an animal, in the absence of finding a suitable blog-roller I think I will stick with Serendipity, and use virtual hosting for many. Thanks anyway.

Even though Serendipity is able to run as a 'blog service', there is no interface yet to add users.

Since offering a blog service has some framework and server setup implications, we can't add generic scripts to create new users and directories, because that's always left up to a provider. A basic idea what a script can look like is found in our Documentation, Shared Installation.

This may of course change in the future, if we find willing volunteers to maybe create a plugin for automatted blog creation. Automatted User is actually quite easy to implement via a plugin like the shoutbox, but nobody needed it until now. :)
